Dinard |
An absolute gem sat on the clifftops and using the natural contours in a fabulous way. Dinard is France’s 3rd oldest club going back to 1890 and what nature couldn’t do has been fixed in the last 110 years. No easy hole anywhere on the course and some breathtaking views make this a wonderful golfing experience. Don’t let the length fool you into thinking its going to be easy. No buggies |
Pleneuf val Andre |
Set high on the clifftops this course has some spectacular holes. The elevated tee at the 11th gives a spectacular view of the sea and of your ball as it drops around 150 feet down to the fairway. Pleneuf val Andre is quite splendid as a golf course with some of the best views you’ll see anywhere. |
Des Ormes |
A very pretty course with some fine holes. Another lovely 18th Century Chateau for a clubhouse and again set in the grounds with lots of mature trees. There’s a good bit of water but it’s all very well placed and doesn’t swamp the course. |
Le Tronchet |
An excellent course. Two great holes across the lake, which is a centrepiece to this generally open course. You will however need good approach shots to score well. The Par 4 16th is a great hole needing an accurate drive and a long second over the lake to a raised green which incorporates a standing stone in the bunker. Excellent golf.. |
Pen Guen |
Mix of 9 links holes and 9 on upland with great views of the coast. Not a long course but it can be demanding with fast greens in particular. The setting is lovely and all levels of golfer will enjoy. |
La Freslonniere |
Tight is the word. Lots of tree-lined fairways needing a straight hit to keep the fairway and make the par. A couple of smashing short Par 4s with square doglegs needing accuracy of length rather than a big hit but there are some wide open Par 5s which will tempt you to open your shoulders. Freslonniere is an experience to play. |
Cice Blossac |
Long course with mostly wide open fairways and large greens. While you can open shoulders in lots of places there is good bit of well placed water and woodland that stop it being a patsy. 9 and 18 are great - you will enjoy this track. |
Ploemeur Ocean |
Not overlong at 6553 yards but one of the most testing courses in the area. Links style course set right on the sea with large bunkers , lots of fairways and quick greens as well as some great water features. A Little gem |
St Laurent |
Long tree lined fairways, narrow in places with good water features, good greens and tantalisingly placed bunkers. A most enjoyable course for all ability levels. |
Rhuys Kerver |
Another coastal gem. The fairways are pretty flat again with excellently sited bunkers to catch the unwary and fabulous natural setting. Most enjoyable. |
Baden |
Top class heathland course with mature oaks and soaring pines down the fairway sides and in a great setting yet again over the sea. Not a beast but a good test |
L'Odet |
Carved out a huge estate with pre-existing mature woodland the designer added massive bunkers a couple of lakes and long curving fairways. One of the big pines sprouts up out of the bunker on the second and you'll need a good approach to clear it. |
Cornouaille |
Fred Hawtree design with the classic mix of easyish bail out shots and big risky shots waiting to be hit but at a cost if you aren't spot on. Again a beautiful setting for this course - a good mix of water sand and woodland that will punish the unwary. Excellent clubhouse. |
