Dieppe |
France’s 8th oldest course (Designed in 1897 by Willie Park) and a delight from the minute you step into the welcoming clubhouse. Not a long course but the tight approaches and small high quality greens will force you to be on your mettle. Don’t be fooled by its apparent shortness - this one bites. |
Champs de Bataille |
Fantastic woodland course - every hole is full of interest and challenge - two new holes in the middle of the woods complete what will be a fantastic experience for you. You will often feel like you are the only people on a top class course. |
Etretat |
Perched high on the cliffs above the town this 110 year old links set up is a delight to play and just as good to look at the views from. Green fees offer unbeatable value in the week. Buggies available but not many so best to book in advance if you want one. |
St Saens |
Good quality course midway between Dieppe and Rouen and just off the motorway from Calais to Rouen. An entertaining mix of 3 loops of 6 holes starting with parkland then woodland and a final links style section. Absolutely excellent value and a great place to start your break. There are hilly bits in the course but buggies are available. |
Golf du Havre
|
Medium length at 6,500 yards Le Havre is quite an open course and good flat easy walking. It isn't a pushover though as it is well bunkered and the wind is often an added challenge - its age gives it great quality especially on the greens. An enjoyable and fair golf course |
L'Amiraute |
A very well planned golf course with lots of fairway to tempt you to hit tiger lines but will teach you a lesson for less than the best. The real hazards are in the water before several greens, the superbly placed bunkers and the very quick greens. |
New Golf De Deauville |
New Golf de Deauville is very much the in club in this fashionable Normandy seaside town. It is a quality parkland course designed by the great Tom Simpson and has lots of variety in its setup. Doglegs, tight fairways, narrow greens and a couple of smashing long par 3s. Deauville is well worth the playing but it is not cheap especially in high summer, when the French come racing, and handicaps (24 max) are required. |
St Julien |
Fantastic visual setting for this open course with plenty of fairway to go for but exceedingly well placed bunkers and a fair bit of water to punish the wayward. Lots of great approach angles into good quality greens .It’s kind of American in its feel in that you need almost to play target golf to score well. The clubhouse is an old Cider press and lacks for nothing in warmth and hospitality. |
Omaha Beach |
Superb course made up of 4 loops of 9 holes each of a different character but all top quality. The Mer hugs the cliff line with stunning sea views , the Bocage is classic parkland and L'Etang is american style - wide and watery. Whichever you play it's a good choice. |
St Gatien |
Decent golf course with 3 loops of 9 of similar parkland quality and style. The clubhouse is a wonderful old cider press and its warmth and quality will enhance your round. |
Le Golf Parc |
About 70 minutes from Rouen and 25 or so from Evreux this is an absolute gem. Beautifully sculpted fairways , lots of water , great fairways and huge tiered greens make it a rare treat even in Normandy. Lovely and restaurant plus buggies included in the green fee make this one not to miss – sadly now only available to guest of the on site Gingko Hotel. |
