Emilia Romagna :: Courses

Cervia 6,246 metres long  this charming course winds its way through pinewoods and salt lakes in a setting of natural beauty close by the sea. The three nine hole loops give a distinctly varied experience of golf in a quality environment. 9 holes inspired by Scottish links followed by 9 echoing the great American courses. A third nine holes, opened in 2004, guarantees an extremely enjoyable and varied test. Easy walking.

Rimini Situated just a short distance from the famous Adriatic coastal resort of Rimini, this charming American-inspired course has magnificent views of nearby San Marino, Verruchio and Mount Carpegna. Its gently rolling fairways and excellent greens guarantee that players of all abilities will enjoy coming here. The Club has hosted European Challenge Tour events and the full irrigation system ensures excellent condition at all times .Easy walking.

Riolo Surrounded by the striking chalk vein and by the green hills of the Appenines, this modern course stretches over more than 200 hectares of green, uncompromised natural habitat.. The layout is particularly technical with alternating flat and sharply sloping holes to test both strength and accuracy. To make the game even more exciting, there are lakes, bunkers, unexpected obstacles, and ravines - the spectacular geological phenomenon typical of the area. The attractive Club House has a wide range of facilities. Buggies could be preferred by some.

Le Fonti This impressive golf club is situated in the charming Sillaro Valley, surrounded by gently rolling hills, and enjoys a particularly mild microclimate. The golf course, which is par 72 and covers a total of 6,480 metres off the championship tees, is extremely varied and, whilst demanding good shot-making, is also great fun to play. The clubhouse boasts a top quality restaurant where guests can enjoy delicious local food and wine, served with incomparable hospitality. The golf course overlooks the thermal spa, is on the edge of the medieval town of Castel san Pietro Terme, and guarantees all visitors a pleasant and unforgettable round.. Generally an easy walking course.

Bologna One of the classic Italian courses. Designed by (Henry) Cotton & Harris and built in 1959, the golf club is situated on splendid rolling countryside with marvellous sweeping panoramic views across the surrounding hills and plains. Updated by Peter Alliss in recent years, it has played host to the Italian Amateur Championships many times as well as to a great number of top level professional competitions. The smart and elegant clubhouse is the ideal place to sample the refined cuisine of the club restaurant, which has been named amongst the top ten club restaurants in Italy on more than one occasion. Generally easy walking, but a few slopes to contend with.

Modena The classy Modena Golf & Country Club is situated close to the historic town of Modena and is less than 20 miles from Bologna. Design by Bernhard Langer, this course is one of the finest in Italy. Set in mature parkland, with wide greens and tees, smoothly winding fairways, large hungry bunkers and several water hazards, this is an ideal venue for top level competitions such as the Italian Open, which recently celebrated its 50th anniversary here. There is also an executive course, a well equipped driving range and two tennis courts. The impressive clubhouse features a fine gourmet restaurant, where sophisticated and local dishes are served, a cosy bar and coffee-shop, two swimming pools, a billiard room and TV and card lounges. For car enthusiasts, the home of Ferrari is just a stones’ throw away, in the village of Maranello, where you can visit the famous Ferrari museum and Gallery.

Matilde di Canossa The Matilde di Canossa Golf Club, founded in 1987, is situated just outside the old town of Reggio Emilia, approx. 30 miles up the motorway from Bologna. The spectacular setting offers magnificent views of an area that is full of history and tradition. The course is rated by many people the best of the 20 or so courses designed by the architect Marco Croze. The 18 holes measure over 6,200 metres, par 72, and are characterised by a variety of configurations, due largely to the Quaresimo Stream that flows through the course. The gentle natural slopes and vegetation make the game technical, fascinating and extremely enjoyable. The clubhouse is very welcoming, serving fine food. You can also relax after your round in or around the swimming pool.

La Rocca Established in 1985, La Rocca Golf Club sits on the hills above the famous old town of Parma. This is a very pleasant undulating parkland course amongst oak and acacia, with several small lakes. The 18 holes are par 71, covering just over 6,000 metres, giving a challenging, but friendly and very enjoyable course with a cosy ‘italian’ clubhouse. A limited number of buggies available – advisable to pre-book. The neighbouring Boschi di Carrega Regional Park boasts a huge variety of flora and fauna in 1,000 hectares of woods and glades. There’s golf, art, history, ecology and excellent Parmesan cuisine in the ancient "Casinetto", which is now the club restaurant. The town of Parma is just 8 miles away.
